Tutor Advocate:

Tutor Advocates provide direct service to migrant students and families in all counties.Tutor Advocates may be working in school settings, homes or community sites. Tutor Advocates are responsible for providing academic tutoring, academic advocacy, and other needed support to students; family literacy, agency referrals, and home school communication support to families. Extensive pre-service training, on-going in-service training, and supervision by administrative staff support Tutor Advocates in their role as service providers.

 

Work hours are flexible, but some late afternoon/early evening hours are necessary due to the availability of migrant parents. Occasional Saturday hours may be required for attendance at parent meetings.

 

Applicants for the Tutor Advocate position who are bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish are preferred. Applicants must have a minimum High School Diploma and reliable transportation. Education background is preferred, but not required. Salary varies depending on educational background and work experience.

"The Mid-Hudson Migrant Education Program accepts placements from SUNY Work Study Programs. Interested students should contact the Financial Aid Office.
