Benefits Information for Prospective Hires

Under the SUNY system, SUNY New Paltz offers full New York State benefits which are among the most comprehensive in the country. Employees must have a full-time appointment that is expected to last 3 months or longer, or a part-time appointment that is at least half-time (.5 FTE) and is expected to last 3 months or longer.

While all benefits packages here are full and comprehensive, the packages are delineated according to the bargaining group the appointment comes under. There are very small differences not in the coverage of benefits, but in how certain parts of them are applied. Below you will find information regarding the specific benefits arrangements for each group.

If you took a civil service examination to qualify for your interview, you will be under CSEA, otherwise known as Classified hires (Civil Service).

If you are applying for a faculty or staff role, more than likely you will be a part of UUP, and beholden to their full-time benefits schedule, or part-time schedule.

Your role may be Management Confidential (M/C), ask the search chair you are communicating with if this is the case.
