Office of Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion

Accommodations (ADA)

SUNY New Paltz has a number of resources available to provide for a more inclusive campus that is free from barriers and bias towards individuals with disabilities.

Employees:

The Benefits team in the Office of Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion serve as the SUNY New Paltz coordinator of compliance regarding the employment provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); New York State Human Rights Law (NYSHRL); and other federal, state, and local laws. This act requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified prospective and current employees with disabilities, unless doing so would cause undue hardship.

SUNY New Paltz engages in an interactive process to ensure that all parties involved have an opportunity to share information and recommendations for identifying a reasonable accommodation. An interactive process is defined by the ADA as an open dialogue between an employer and an employee to support reasonable accommodations in the workplace.

To learn more about the ADA process at SUNY New Paltz, please review the information below.

To request an accommodation, complete the ADA Employee Accommodation Form - Fillable - Sept21 and ask your medical practitioner to complete the ADA Medical Form - Fillable - Sept21. Return both forms to the Benefits Office in the Office of Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion (HAB 603), and a member of our Benefits staff will reach out to you, or you can reach out directly to the SUNY New Paltz Designee for Reasonable Accommodations (DRA), Jane Gallucci (x3169).
