Duties: The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz welcomes applications for an Assignments Coordinator in the Office of Residence Life. The Assignments Coordinator reports directly to the Assistant Director for Housing Operations.

Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
• Supervise one to two professional staff member(s), providing training, guidance and support.
• Collaborate with Assistant Director to facilitate room selection/assignment process for all students.
• Oversee daily aspects of housing assignments and processes associated with weekly room changes and facilitate large scale Mid-Year Room Change Process.
• Plan, and coordinate opening and closing processes for all residence halls each semester.
• Coordinate room damage billing and appeals process.
• Manage and track all work order submissions and work with the Facilities Office to ensure repairs are completed in a timely fashion. Serve as liaison between the Facilities Operations Office and all residence hall staffs, as well as students as it pertains to work orders and repairs.
• Oversee furniture inventory for all residence halls, in each student room, as well as extra furniture items in storage. Liaise with the Moving and Trucking Department for furniture replacement in student rooms as necessary. Submit quarterly inventory reports, and make recommendations for future purchases.
• Manage phone and email correspondence with students, parents, and other offices regarding questions related to room assignments, ensuring timely and consistent correspondence
• Address roommate conflicts in a timely manner, and provide leadership and support to Complex Directors in this area. Determine which situations require emergency room changes, assistance from the Counseling Center, and/or referrals to other campus offices.
• Participate in the on call duty rotation for the central office.
• Assist with creating and/or updating content on the Residence Life webpage and publications.

Qualifications: Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 3-5 years of progressive Residence Life experience
• Evidence of strong administrative skills, ability to multitask
• Demonstrated ability to interact and work well with staff and students of diverse interests and backgrounds

Preferred:
• Master’s Degree in related field
