Duties: The State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications for the role of Internship Coordinator with the Career Resource Center. Reporting to the Director of the Career Resource Center, the Internship Coordinator will manage internship stipend applications and allocations, student travel expenses, conduct workshops and participate in major events throughout the college year to help prepare students for life after college. This role requires attention to detail, good communication skills, proficiency at managing multiple projects, and an ability to engage with and establish a positive working rapport with students, faculty, employers, and community partners. This is a 12-month position.

Duties of this role include but are not limited to:
• Oversee all aspects of the First-Year Internship Program
• Advise students to help them understand the internships credit bearing process as well as covering general internship search and career development topics
• Assess student challenges/needs related to securing and/or completing an internship and collaborate with site supervisor and faculty to find possible solutions
• Provide workshops and programs for the college population on career and professional development
• Work with Deans and Academic Chairs to develop strategies and structures resulting in an increased number of internships completed for credit
• Work with the Office of Institutional Research to collect and prepare relevant data for the annual report, track spending, contracts, and experiential learning outcomes
• Serve as the primary Handshake contact for managing internship employers and opportunities
• Work directly with local and regional employers (Hudson Valley and New York City Metro) to identify and develop new internship opportunities
• Support and participate in college initiatives such as career fairs, new student orientations, student organization events, and other activities related to student success and the overall student experience

Qualifications: Required:
• Bachelor's degree
• Willingness to occasionally work outside of core business hours (e.g., evenings and weekends)
• Proficient in Handshake, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and Google Docs
• Budgeting: Ability to allocate, manage, and track funding for over 125 internship stipends and travel grants

Preferred:
• Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Higher Education, Student Personnel, Academic Advising, or related field
• Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in career services or higher education setting that involves working directly with students or adults
• Ability to effectively and clearly communicate with students, employers and faculty
• Ability to learn Banner and Argos software
• Excellent teamwork and customer service skills
• Ability to multi-task and maintain deadlines
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and flexible
• Commitment to student experiential learning
