Duties: The Department of Computer Science at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications to fill two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start date of August 2024. Successful candidates are expected to develop and teach core courses in the department and associated programs, as well as advanced courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise. It is also expected that the successful candidate will pursue research and scholarship as appropriate. We strongly encourage faculty to incorporate undergraduate and graduate students in research. We seek candidates who will create a climate that helps attract and is inclusive of all students, including students from historically underrepresented groups and students who have overcome personal challenges. Duties for this role include but are not limited to:
• Develop and teach core courses in the department and associated programs, as well as advanced courses in the candidate's areas of expertise
• Pursue research and scholarship as appropriate, incorporating undergraduate and graduate students in research
Qualifications: Required:
• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field. Candidates in all areas of computer science will be considered. ABD in Computer Science or closely related discipline with a firm completion date prior to December 31, 2024, will also be considered.
• Strong commitment to teaching
• Excellent communication skills
