Duties: The Division of Engineering Programs at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz welcomes applications for an Engineering Lecturer beginning August 2024. This lecturer will be responsible for coordinating and managing our ‘Senior Design’ Capstone Experience for all undergraduate students in the Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering programs. Students work in small interdisciplinary teams to complete a complex engineering project. The successful candidate will be responsible for soliciting and maintaining a list of potential projects; providing structure in the process; instructing on project management principles; coordinating due dates; and leading the Senior Design Expo planning committee. ‘Senior Design’ has been cited by many alumni as having been critical in their ability to secure employment and be successful in their professional roles.

This position is at the rank of Lecturer. Lecturers typically teach five course equivalents per semester, though alternative arrangements may be made if the candidate is able to provide additional services to the Division of Engineering Programs. Coordinating and managing Senior Design Capstone and Senior Design Expo will be counted as teaching 2-courses per year.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in their area of specialty at all undergraduate levels. A willingness and ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses is a must.

Qualifications: Required:
• M.S. degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering. Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field by August 2024.

Preferred:
• Significant industrial experience particularly in a project management capacity
