Duties: Administrative Computing, part of IT/Computer Services at the State University of NY at New Paltz, invites applications for the position of Programmer/Analyst. This is a full-time position that will support many areas on campus. Support will take a variety of forms including writing code, identifying issues, creating documentation, and assisting our service desk and end users. This is an entry level programmer position and a wonderful opportunity for a recent graduate to develop both hard and soft skills. The programmer/analyst will work and communicate with constituents across campus including IT staff, faculty, staff, and students.

Duties include:
Triaging support tickets for the Administrative Computing area and providing tier 2 level support for the Service Desk
Creating and modifying SQL code, reporting views, and Tableau functions to support the reporting processes of the Institutional Research Office
Create and modify reports in Argos, our enterprise reporting solution
Helping to automate some of the manual reporting processes of the Institutional Research Office
Utilize internal tools to create simple e-commerce stores
Document internal processes and troubleshooting guides
Assist users with login issues to administrative systems
Create tooling and automations with Python
Cleaning up duplicate records

Qualifications: Required:
Associate Degree in related field of study
1 year of experience with a general purpose programming language such as Python, PHP, Go, Ruby, Java, etc.
Good communication skills

Preferred:
Experience querying data with SQL
Familiarity with version control, preferably Git
Bachelor’s degree
