Duties: The Department of Sociology at SUNY New Paltz invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2020. The primary responsibility will be to teach Sociological Theory and the undergraduate capstone Senior Seminar in Sociology, as well as elective courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The teaching load is typically three courses per semester. The successful candidate’s research and training should demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following areas: medical sociology; public health; political economy; digital sociology. We are especially interested in candidates whose research engages with historically marginalized groups. The successful applicant will also be expected to demonstrate and maintain a strong scholarly agenda, advise students, and contribute to the life and work of the department and college. The Sociology Department enjoys robust enrollment in a popular major that emphasizes applied learning, research, and active engagement with pressing social issues.

Qualifications: Required:
Ph.D. in sociology required; exceptional ABD candidates with firm completion date will be considered.

Post-secondary teaching experience highly desired.
