Duties: The Department of Communication at the State University of New York at New Paltz invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Public Relations beginning in Fall of 2018. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in introduction to public relations, public relations publications, social media and public relations, public relations design, and senior capstone in public relations, as well as topics related to her or his research interests. The normal pre-tenure teaching load is nine credits per semester. Although teaching is the primary responsibility at SUNY New Paltz, scholarly work and ongoing service to department and college are expected.
~ A Ph.D. in Communication, Media, Public Relations, or a related field required. Exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered.
~ Demonstrated record of, or the potential for, scholarly publication
~ Post-secondary teaching experience as the sole instructor
~ Experience teaching public relations or strategic communication courses
~ Proficiency with instructional technology and online teaching
~ Evidence of experience with engaged learning pedagogies such as simulations or applied learning techniques (ie. reflection upon doing).
