The photography faculty, Andrea Frank and Nadia Sablin, are exhibiting artists with a broad range of expertise, interests, and involvement in the contemporary art world, providing students with multifaceted mentorship. We are committed to embracing socially and environmentally conscious dialogue and strive to integrate sustainable and inclusive practices in all aspects of the program.
Students have the opportunity to study advanced techniques in digital imaging and printing, black & white darkroom processes, large-format view camera photography, video, and studio lighting in our state-of-the-art facilities. Our BFA students exhibit their thesis work in the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art.
Field trips and visiting artists broaden the learning environment and expose students to a variety of viewpoints.
Photography BFA students are actively involved in Photo Club and the Student Art Alliance, which supports visiting artists, travel to conferences, and other creative projects, creating greater opportunity for community and professional networking.
Opportunities After Graduation: Our students emerge from this program equipped for a range of careers. Many continue their involvement with photography as exhibiting artists and cultural practitioners, and often go on to attend some of the best graduate photography programs in the country. Other recent graduates have developed successful careers as commercial studio photographers, practicing photojournalists, managers of their own architectural or studio photography businesses, in-house industrial photographers, picture editors, and personnel in galleries, museums, or arts organizations.
