Associate Professor of Design Joshua Korenblat collaborated with Associate Professor of English Sarah Wyman on the development of EarthRise, a sustainability learning and community engagement anthology and a companion learning commons, supported by a 2024-2025 SUNY IITG OER Impact Grant.
The anthology, titled "Sustainability Learning for Action & Community Engagement," is being published by Palgrave Macmillan/Springer Nature. All chapters will also appear on its companion site, Earthrise Commons, as well as additional materials by authors and others from around the world. Other team members for the learning commons are Kristoff Lalicki, adjunct lecturer in Department of Design, who also designed the Earthrise logo (left); Stephan Macaluso of the Sojourner Truth Library; Paul Hirsch of SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry; Nicole Simon of Nassau Community College; and Wallkill Senior High School teacher Samrat Pathania ’13 (Mathematics; Adolescence Education–Physics) ’18g (Adolescence Education–Mathematics).
"We are excited that our sustainability education work can continue to grow beyond the bounds of the initial print anthology," says Wyman. "Please consider submitting additional learning activities, lesson plans, project ideas, lecture slides, etc. and invite your educator colleagues to explore the site and contribute as well."
