About New Paltz

Directions

From the north or south take NYS Thruway (I-87) to exit 18.

From the northeast/west take the NYS Thruway (I-90) to Albany and then south (I-87) to exit 18.

From the southwest take Route 17 east to Route 17K to NYS Thruway (I-87) north to to exit 18.

From Connecticut take I-84 west to exit 7A. Follow sign for NYS Thruway (I-87). Take Thruway north to exit 18.

From New Jersey take the Garden State Parkway to Route 17 (Exit 163). Proceed 14 miles to NYS Thruway north to exit 18. Alternate route: Via Route 287, go northwest on State Rt. 17 to New York. Take I-287 north to I-87. Go north on I-87 to exit 18.

From Mid Hudson Bridge turn right onto Route 9W north. Proceed 2 3/4 miles to traffic light at intersection with Route 299. Turn left onto 299 and proceed approximately six miles to New Paltz. Turn left onto South Manheim Boulevard (Rt. 32 South).

From Adirondack Trailways bus station, New Paltz, New York.
The Trailways bus station is located on the corner of Main Street and Prospect Street. From the parking lot, turn left onto Main Street. Go up hill to the traffic light (Rt. 32 & South Manheim Blvd.), turn right. Proceed 1/8 mile, campus is on your right. Trailways Bus System information (845) 255-6520.

From Stewart International Airport, Newburgh, New York,
Turn left out of Stewart onto Rt. 207. Go approximately 2 miles, then turn left onto Route 300 north. Stay on Route 300 for approximately 3 miles. At light at intersection of Rt. 300 and 17K, turn right onto 17K south. Make first left onto I-87/NYS Thruway entrance. Go north on I-87 to exit 18.
Public Transportation from Stewart: Take the Newburgh-Beacon Link from Stewart to the Shortline Bus Station in Newburgh and from there take the bus to New Paltz.

From train station, Poughkeepsie, New York - Hudson Line:
Taxi cabs are available most hours from the train station. If driving from train station, go west on US 44 across the Mid-Hudson Bridge. Then follow directions above from Mid-Hudson Bridge.

*From Exit 18* turn left at the traffic light after toll booth. Turn left at the third traffic light onto South Manheim Boulevard (Rt. 32 South). Several campus entrances are on the right side of the road, depending on which part of campus you are here to visit. See the campus map for more information.

From Exit 18 - Alternative Route:
To avoid Main Street traffic in the Village of New Paltz, use the following directions from Exit 18. Turn left at the traffic light after toll booth. Turn left at first traffic light on to South Putt Corners Rd. Follow that road to the end. At the traffic light, turn right onto Rt. 32. After approximately one mile, you will see several campus entrances on the left side of the road, depending on which part of campus you are here to visit. See the campus map for more information.

From Exit 17 - To avoid possible congestion on Thruway/Rt. 299/Main St.
To avoid Main Street entirely AND POSSIBLE CONGESTION ON THE THRUWAY BETWEEN EXITS 17 AND 18, use the following directions from Exit 17 (Newburgh). After the toll booth, follow the signs to Route 300 North.  At the light, turn left on to Route 300 North.  After about 3 miles, continue straight onto Route 32 North.  After about 14 miles, you will see several campus entrances on the left side of the road.


Visiting Undergraduate Admissions
The Office of Undergraduate Admssions is located in the Hopfer Undergraduate Admissions and Alumni Center on Route 32, just south of the main entrance to the University.

Visitors to Undergraduate Admissions are provided with a complimentary parking permit and are asked to park in Lot 28 on Route 32, opposite the Hopfer Center.
