Residence Life
Esopus Hall

Learn the history of the building's name

This residence hall opened in the fall of 2001. The name was chosen to recognize the Native American tribes' ongoing influence in this region of New York. Esopus Hall is a traditional corridor style residence hall, with rooms designed for double occupancy. All rooms are wired for all technology connections. Esopus contains several study and recreation lounges, a computer room, fitness center, and laundry facilities. Esopus Hall is also the home of the FYI program. FYI is a living/learning community designed specifically for freshmen. FYI provides an opportunity to live in a residence hall with classmates who are all making the initial transition from high school to college. Each student takes two courses in common with their hall mates during each semester of their freshmen year. This environment provides for the development of effective academic skills through informal study groups, seminars and workshops by faculty and professional staff, the availability of "resident mentors," in hall peer advisors who can assist with course work, study skills, time management and more.
