This in-person event is designed for K-12 school mental health staff, teachers, and administrators who want to be educated on the issues surrounding sexual violence, consent, social media, and sex between teens. As an educator, it can feel overwhelming to constantly discern when, where, and how to best offer support to your students and their peers. Throughout this session, school staff will engage in an interactive discussion that first highlights the most prevalent issues currently leading to the perpetration of sexual violence, learn about emerging trends in how students from K-12 perceive this topic, and identify immediate and ongoing actions that can help prevent sexual violence. This three-pronged approach will offer educators a better understanding of the nature of this topic and their specific roles around advocacy, education, and survivor support. Data utilized in this program will emphasize an examination of a localized version of the issue as opposed to national data. Meant to serve as an action-oriented experience, the program will also include intentional times where educators will learn about various tools that they can tailor or apply to their interactions with students. If you work with or care about teens, we invite you to join this interactive afternoon workshop with nationally recognized educator Tim Mousseau.

Presented by the Maya Gold Foundation and the Mid-Hudson Teacher Center and special thanks to the DENIZEN Theatre for generously donating the venue. A Mini-Conference September 22nd, 24th and 27th 2021
Reimagine, Rebuild, Renew
was launched in the spring of 2021 as New York’s campaign to support the state’s recovery efforts from the COVID-19 pandemic. The campaign sought to reimagine a state that was stronger, fairer, greener, and more resilient than ever before. This campaign can translate into the work the educational community does as we, too, move towards our own recovery efforts to make our educational system stronger, fairer, greener, and more resilient. This three-part mini-conference series looked at how educators can REIMAGINE their classrooms, looking at how we address student learning needs and create a greener environment using new technology skills; how we REBUILD relationships to create a stronger and more resilient student as most of them integrate back into a school setting; and RENEW our own relationship with teaching so we can continue to instill the love of learning within our students for years to come.
