High School Students

College is right around the corner! Whether you are preparing for the SAT/ACT or just starting high school, it is never to early to start exploring your opportunities after graduation.

We know the college search process can be overwhelming so we are here to help guide you on to your next big adventure. You've got this!

WHEN SHOULD I START LOOKING?

It's never too early! A good place to start is researching colleges that offer the program you are interested in (Undecided? No problem! Many students start off without a declared major.). Once you have a few schools in mind, set aside some time to visit each of them and get familiar with their campuses.

SUNY New Paltz hosts a Fall Open House each year and campus tours year round.

WHO CAN I REACH OUT TO FOR HELP?

Your counselor is there to help guide you through the college search process, including applying for financial aid. You may also want to reach out to friends or siblings who are finalizing their college search or currently in college. They’ll be able to offer helpful tips and suggestions.

Members of our admissions staff are also available to answer any questions you may have about your application process.

WHAT DO I NEED TO APPLY?

Every college has their own requirements for applicants and may have special requirements based on particular programs.

For prospective freshmen applicants at SUNY New Paltz, you can find our application requirements here.
