Duties: Plans, directs, and coordinates the plant operations department in a moderately sized facility, or a major portion of a large and complicated plant utilities operation; supervises Plant Utilities Engineers 2 and other lower-level staff engaged in plant operations, maintenance, and repair activities; may supervise mechanical, electrical, and building operations, and other ancillary activities such as cleaning, plant security, and transportation in small facilities; may serve as an assistant to a Plant Utilities Engineer 4, or Plant Superintendent C. Qualifications: • Working knowledge of the construction and the safe and efficient operation of boilers, chillers, auxiliary heating, ventilating and air-conditioning equipment, and high and low voltage electrical and generating equipment.
• Working knowledge of the principal and practices of supervision.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License
Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
1. A current SUNY New Paltz employee reachable via his/her score on the Plant Utilities Engineer 3 promotional list.
2. Must be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service canvass list for a Plant Utilities Engineer 3, SG-19.
3. Hold a State title eligible for 70.1 transfer to Plant Utilities Engineer 3.
