Resident Assistant

Resident Assistants (RAs) work with students and Residence Life professional staff to promote a socially, culturally, and educationally enriching experience for students.  They are responsible for building community, programming, administrative operations, support and advocacy, and upholding campus policies and standards in their assigned Residence Hall.

Requirements/Prerequisites: Full-time, matriculated undergraduate student with at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA in good judicial standing.  Must have spent at least one semester as a full-time student at New Paltz.  Must have lived in a residence hall for at least one full semester.
Compensation: On-campus room rent waiver for a single-occupancy room; partial meal plan waiver.
Application Timeline: Applications for academic year positions available in February; the RA selection process takes place over several months during the Spring semester.

Residence Hall Student Association

The Residence Hall Student Association is a student-run organization that exists to foster community among resident students.  RHSA is run by an eight member Executive Board which is responsible for all aspects of the organization.  RHSA seeks to promote a healthy and enjoyable on-campus residence experience.


Requirements/Prerequisites: Associate Council Meetings are open to all; each Residence Hall Government elects its own delegates
Compensation: Executive Board compensation rates are determined by Campus Auxiliary Services annually.
Application Timeline: Executive Board members are elected by the Associate Council each Spring for the upcoming academic year.
