Support SUNY New Paltz students now

Posted on: Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 1:47 PM

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

You have been on my mind over the last couple of weeks while we’ve readied our campus community for weathering the changes ahead. I hope you and your families are healthy and handling the current situation as best you can.

Recently we’ve been fielding questions about how to support students who are facing unanticipated hardships during this extraordinary time. For those who are interested and able to give, I want to highlight two funds previously established to help students in times such as these:

  • Gifts to the Student Crisis Fund meet immediate student needs, such as expenses for traveling home, food, or health care. This is not tuition relief but support for essential academic needs (books and supplies) or for basic needs (such as short-term housing or transportation).

Student Crisis Fund
  • Gifts to the Crossing the Finish Line Fund support juniors and seniors when emergency financial challenges impact their ability to complete their academic program. Every gift to this fund (up to $100,000) will be matched by two anonymous donors—which doubles the value of your gift.

Crossing the Finish Line Fund
Both the Student Crisis Fund and the Crossing the Finish Line Fund give students hope by responding quickly to their needs in very difficult times. Students tell us that knowing someone cares about their success is a powerful motivator. You too can help. You can give hope. Any support you provide now will be deeply appreciated.

As we proceed through the next weeks and months, you can find our most current information on our COVID-19 webpage, which is updated regularly. Although all campus events have been cancelled or postponed, classes will continue online for the rest of the semester.

You are part of the New Paltz family. As always, your connection to
SUNY New Paltz is highly valued and important to us. If you have any questions
or if you just want to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Erica Marks
Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations
