Engineering
  • Small class sizes provide a nurturing environment for undergraduates that cannot be found at large research universities. Our labs are taught by professors – not teaching assistants. Engineering faculty apply for very specific grant opportunities that focus on education and experience for the students.
  • The engineering major offers wonderful opportunities for internships; there are as many opportunities available as there are students who want them. Engineering students serve as interns for companies big and small, such as IBM and Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation and Sonotec. Students also benefit from the department’s established relationships with industry partners. Most engineering students who complete summer internships and co-ops are paid for their work.
  • Our long-standing electrical and computer engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accrediting Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org
  • Students have the chance to earn both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical or computer engineering in just five years.
  • Students in the mechanical engineering program have the opportunity to learn design by doing. They work with an external customer to design a product and leverage the 3D printing capabilities of the Hudson Valley Advanced Manufacturing Center (HVAMC) to prototype it.
