Academic Policies and Procedures » Recent Academic Policy Changes and Clarifications
Policy changes effective Fall 2015:
Students who have 60 [formerly 75] or more credits in progress will not be permitted to register for additional credits unless they have a declared major. A pre-major is not valid after 60 [formerly 75] credits are completed. New York State residents with 60 or more credits will not be eligible for New York's Tuition Assistance Plan (TAP) until the major is declared. This policy applies to incoming transfer students as well as continuing students at New Paltz.
In addition, language has been clarified in these policies:
College Level Exam Program (CLEP)
English exam in Analyzing and Interpreting Literature: 3 credits for ENG200 will be awarded for a minimum exam score of 49 and a positive evaluation by department faculty of the required essay. (Note that the essay is a campus requirement, not a CLEP requirement.)
Grade Replacement (formerly "Replace Grading Policy")
Contents reorganized and language clarified throughout; links to related policies added.
History has been removed; the referenced Standard Level and Higher Level course is no longer taught.
