April 19: Our University, Our Future: Celebrating the Transformative Power of Public Higher Education
A celebration of SUNY New Paltz students and our shared mission to prepare them for lifelong success.

Join President Wheeler as we kick off inauguration by highlighting how student and faculty collaborative efforts contribute to the goals of public higher education. The president will ask participants to consider some of the biggest questions impacting the University’s work. How do student-faculty collaborations influence the common good? How do they show us how to build a better society and how to help one another? How do we refine our ability to sit with conflicting ideas?
✧ Inaugural Festival
Starting at Lecture Center North and South Lobbies
Have some fun with peers and mentors as we celebrate this historic moment on campus. Lots to do all over campus, including a scavenger hunt and memory box ceremony where students, clubs and organizations will be invited to contribute a lasting memento of their experience at New Paltz for future generations.
April 20: Investiture Ceremony
The investiture marks the ceremonial installation of President Darrell P. Wheeler as the University’s ninth president and will bring together the campus community, higher education dignitaries, elected representatives, alumni and neighbors to celebrate the past, present and future of the University. Festivities begin with an academic processional and the ceremony will be immediately followed by a community reception. All members of the SUNY New Paltz community are invited to attend.
