Student teaching placements are completed over the course of the academic semester. The duration of the student teaching is typically 16 to 17 weeks, with the start and end dates coinciding with the start and end dates of the SUNY New Paltz academic calendar.
During student teaching placements, students must follow the school calendars in which they are placed. Students follow the full-time schedule of their cooperating teachers and are responsible for participating in before- and after-school professional activities assigned by the cooperating teacher.
