Pennsylvania

As noted by the Wayne County, PA Web site, property taxes in Pennsylvania are based on millage rates¹ set by individual municipalities and school districts.  The amount of tax a property owner will owe is based on the property's assessed value² multiplied by the millage rate.

Sample Calculations of PA School Tax

$120,500 * 0.0110810 ML (Damascus Twp millage rate) = 1335.26 in school taxes for the 2005-2006 school year.

Footnotes

¹ Yearly millage rates are based on the amount of funds needed to operate. One mill is the equivalent of 1/1000th of one dollar

² The assessed value of a property is determined by the county assessment office.
