Welcome to New Paltz! As you explore our college's Web site, I hope that you will quickly come to see what others in the mid-Hudson region and New York State have long known-that New Paltz is an academically distinguished and vibrant college that offers a wonderful array of educational programs. We have worked diligently to enhance our academic quality for many years now, and are now one of the most selective and intellectually rigorous colleges in SUNY and the northeast. At the same time, however, this is a college community that is particularly proud of its diversity and the friendly and welcoming campus spirit.

New Paltz is fundamentally shaped by its geography, nestled as we are under the shadow of neighboring mountains and beside the Hudson River. Hikers, climbers and outdoors enthusiasts are especially at home here and their spirit of adventure is paralleled by the intellectual exploration that takes place everyday on campus.
