Welcome Center

Welcome Center: Employment

What is the Welcome Center and what role does a Welcome Center Greeter play?

The Welcome Center desk is located on the first floor of the Haggerty Administration Building where our Greeters play a key role on our campus.  Whether it is a new staff member, current student, general visitor, or a prospective student seeking information, Welcome Center Greeters are there to provide them with information in a patient, friendly, accurate, and helpful manner.  At times, the Welcome Center may be the first point of contact someone has with our campus and as such it is important that all Greeters make callers and visitors their first priority in order to leave a positive lasting impression.

Greeter responsibilities include:

  • Answering phones
  • Greeting walk-in visitors
  • Providing information such as directions, academic and cultural offerings, and event details
  • Managing displays and literature racks
  • Creating a welcoming environment for any and all visitors

Here's what we look for:

Welcome Center employees must be warm, professional, well spoken, and courteous with outstanding customer service skills. They must also have thorough knowledge of our campus, building and office locations, academic programs we offer, cultural offerings, and campus events.  Often times, the Welcome Center manages a high volume of phone calls and walk-in visitors.  As such, it is important that students are able to work well in such a fast paced environment.

Prospective applicants must be undergraduate students and hold a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher in order to be eligible for hire as a Welcome Center Greeter.
