Roll Call for Role Models:
A celebration of outstanding young alumni at 40 Under Forty 2024

A biennial SUNY New Paltz tradition continued in June 2024, as a new class of outstanding young alumni joined the select ranks of 40 Under Forty honorees at a celebratory event on June 8.

Every two years, the University honors graduates under the age of 40 who have achieved superlative success in their chosen fields.

“We are delighted about all the work that you're doing in your communities and in your professions,” said Vice President of Development & Alumni Relations Erica Marks. “You are representing the very best that SUNY New Paltz education has to offer.”

This year’s awardees, the fourth cohort of 40 Under Forty since the program launched in 2017, are the product of our most competitive selection process to date. A diverse pool of 147 outstanding alumni were nominated, with finalists chosen by a committee composed of representatives from University administration, alumni leadership, faculty and staff.

“We couldn't be prouder of the alumni selected as this year's 40 Under Forty honorees,” said Jennifer D’Andrea, interim director of alumni relations. “This prestigious recognition is a testament to their significant contributions and remarkable success in their profession. We take immense pride in acknowledging them as active community members and look forward to celebrating and honoring them.”

The June 8 ceremony offered a welcome opportunity for old friends to reconnect, and new acquaintances to mingle. Though the honorees represented diverse paths walked since graduation, all share a common interest in taking full advantage of given opportunities to strengthen their communities and pay it forward.

“With this achievement, I want to be a role model for the next generation,” said Alvina Ahmed ’19 (English), who currently serves as a program analyst for the U.S. Department of the Navy. “I want to show students currently in New Paltz that with this degree, you can achieve whatever you want, and you can do great things.”
