Some people find them a little creepy, but bats can actually be really nice to have around. They eat lots of insects that bother humans and make effective pollinators. They're also extremely diverse in number of species, diet, body shape and size, and other attributes.
Interested in learning more? Tomorrow, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m., the Biology Department welcomes Sharlene Santana, Ph.D., curator of mammals at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture in Seattle, Washington, and associate professor at the University of Washington, for a virtual talk on bats' evolutionary diversity.
