  • Actual Overall Decrease: 5% reduction in electricity use

Winning Residence Hall with Air Conditioning: Lenape Hall
Winning Residence Hall without Air Conditioning: Tie between College/Shango and Gage Hall

Final Standings by Residence Halls for the  Fall 2014 New Paltz Unplugged Competition

  1. Lenape Hall – 29% reduction
  2. Esopus Hall – 21% reduction
  3. College/Shango Hall and Gage Hall – 3.2% reduction
  4. Dubois Hall 3.1% reduction
  5. Bevier Hall – 2.9% reduction
  6. LeFevre Hall – 2.3% reduction
  7. Scudder Hall – 0.3% reduction
  8. Capen Hall – 0.1% increase
  9. Crispell Hall – 1.0% increase
  10. Bouton Hall – 1.1% increase
  11. Deyo Hall – 1.7% increase
  12. Bliss Hall – 1.8% increase

Wondering why Lenape and Esopus have experienced such significant electricity reductions compared to all the other residence halls?  Lenape and Esopus Halls are both air conditioned.  It’s getting cooler, so there’s less demand for electricity to cool the air in both of those buildings.
