Bioretention Areas and Dry Swale

Bioretention Areas and Dry Swale

In the middle and south end of the Lenape parking lot are six bioretention areas. Rainfall flows
from the parking lot into the planted gardens and slowly percolates through three feet of mulch,
topsoil, and crushed stone. The filtration process removes containments and reduces the rate
and volume of stormwater runoff. The water slowly filters into the ground. Any excess water
flows through underground pipes to the west end of the site through a long, narrow dry swale.
