Angela Urbina-Medina’s journey as an educator began in the classroom in the Enlarged City School District of Middletown in 1997. Most recently, from 2020 - 2022, Urbina-Medina served as superintendent of the New Paltz Central School District. Prior to her career in education, Urbina-Medina served as a New York City Police Officer assigned to the 40th Precinct in the Bronx.

“My years in the police department solidified my commitment to creating rich and representative learning environments where all have a sense of belonging and value,” she said. “As a black, female educational leader, I have a great deal of experience navigating this challenging landscape that is often rich with bias on many levels.

Urbina-Medina earned a Master of Science in Education and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from SUNY New Paltz.
