I decided to join the Peer Advising team because it is a unique position that offers academic guidance between students on a one on one, and group level! Hi! My name is Faiza (she/her/hers) and I am a junior majoring in International Relations with a minor in Sociology. Currently, I work as a writing consultant at the CSS and I am extremely excited to start peer advising, as well! I love working at the CSS because it allows me to meet and interact with so many of my peers. I thoroughly enjoy helping students navigate challenges and watching them overcome their obstacles. I think being a peer advisor is especially unique and beneficial because we have all been in each other’s shoes which makes it easier to relate to one another's situations. Hey everyone! My name is Chelsi (she/her/hers) and I’m a subject tutor for Calc 2!! I’m an Early Childhood/Elementary Ed major with a concentration in Math and a minor in Deaf Studies with the goal set in mind to be a teacher for the deaf one day! Some of my favorite hobbies include hiking, jet skiing, or really anything outdoors especially by the water. I appreciate a good book, and also spend some time being active and practicing yoga often! Hi! My name is Danielle, but you can also call me Rian (she/her/hers), and I am a tutor for Biology. This is my fifth year at SUNY New Paltz, and my last year in undergrad. My major is in Biology and Adolescent Education with a minor in Geology. I joined the CSS to better help students in ways I wished could have been done for me, and to foster the skills they need to succeed. Genetics has unique hurdles that can be difficult to overcome, so I hope to pass down strategies I found effective and continue using to this day. I wanted to join the CSS because I understand what it’s like to struggle academically and I’ve had experiences with plenty of tutors in the past.
