Currently, I work as a writing consultant at the CSS and I am extremely excited to start peer advising, as well! I love working at the CSS because it allows me to meet and interact with so many of my peers. I thoroughly enjoy helping students navigate challenges and watching them overcome their obstacles. I think being a peer advisor is especially unique and beneficial because we have all been in each other’s shoes which makes it easier to relate to one another's situations. Hi! My name is Sarah and I will be a junior this upcoming Fall 2020 semester! I am a biology major and I aspire to be a physician in the near future. Hi! My name is Adam(he/his). I am a Junior here at New Paltz, and I am double majoring in Geography with a concentration in Urban Planning as well as History. This is my first year at the Center for Student Success, and I will be working as a Peer Writing Consultant. Writing is a passion of mine, and one of the reasons I joined the Center was the vision that I could spark that passion in someone else as well. Writing is truly an all-encompassing discipline that is useful in all walks of life, from college and beyond. Hello! My name is Allison (she/her/hers) and I am a member of the graduating class of 2021. I am pursuing a double major in geology and Spanish, and I work as a Peer Writing Consultant. I chose to work in the CSS as a writing consultant because I believe that writing skills are extremely important across all fields and majors and want to help people develop their own writing style and give them skills to improve their written communication. Writing allows us to give voice to the issues and topics that matter most to us, be it in an academic setting or otherwise. Given that, I believe that the development of writing skills is essential, for more than just good grades on essays. Outside of academics, I am the president of the Outing Club and during my free time I enjoy hiking, climbing, practicing yoga, reading, writing, and playing guitar and piano.
