Mark Rumnit ‘93

Mark Rumnit ‘93 (History) is the Director of the Scholars Mentorship Program (SMP) at the State University of New York at New Paltz. 

After earning a B.A. in History at SUNY New Paltz, he attended Stony Brook University and completed his M.A. in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Education. Mark has been an educator for 29 years, and has served thousands of students, educating, counseling, and assisting them at all stages of their high school and college careers. A professional faculty member at SUNY New Paltz since 2008, Mark has also held roles as an Advisor within the Educational Opportunity Program and the Academic Advising Center. He spent 13 years as an educator for the Department of Education in New York City where he taught social studies, AP social studies, was a Dean of Students and a Coach. His experiences at these academic institutions have cultivated his knowledge and understanding of student development and academic success.
