NEW! SUNY New Paltz/TouroCOM 7 year B.A./D.O. Program with TOURO College of Osteopathic Medicine
SUNY New Paltz has partnered with the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM), Middletown, N.Y., campus to accommodate students in the School of Science & Engineering who wish to pursue medical degrees, and help meet the regional need for skilled practitioners in the Hudson Valley. Through this partnership, New Paltz students can apply to a highly competitive, seven-year B.A./D.O. program that puts them on a pathway to a dual degree and a rewarding career in medicine. First-year students who meet special, pre-matriculation academic and admission requirements will be able to begin studying at New Paltz, in pre-medical disciplines including biology and chemistry. Students who sustain a 3.50 grade point average and a prescribed score on the MCAT exam after three years at New Paltz will be eligible for seamless admission to TouroCOM’s Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program. Students enter TouroCOM at the Middletown campus as a first-year medical school student, and complete their bachelor’s degree while beginning graduate study. They will qualify to earn their bachelor’s degree (conferred by SUNY New Paltz) after year four in the program. Lastly, students will continue their education at TouroCOM for three more years, and complete their Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in a total of seven years, all without leaving the Hudson Valley.
