Planned Giving

William Edwin Sibley, Jr. ’96 (Sociology) ’99g (Education: Special Education) began his journey at SUNY New Paltz as an undergraduate in sociology, but he was not sure about his eventual direction in life until he learned about the Direct Care Practice program.

“I was most affected by my experience at the Astor Home for Children, which made me decide to become a special needs teacher. Through this experience, I learned that the best way to really help kids is to teach them. I earned my M.S. Ed. in Special Education in 1999 and moved to the Los Angeles area. I have been employed with the Los Angeles Unified School District since 2001 and I have had the good fortune of being at the same school with the same K-2 special needs classroom for over 20 years. I am so grateful to everyone who helped me in my life journey! For all of these reasons, I am proud to have chosen to include SUNY New Paltz in my FreeWill, as New Paltz has served as the cornerstone to my success. Thank you!"
