Duties: The Alumni Engagement Officer will assist the Director of Alumni Relations in developing and executing a creative marketing and communications plan to engage over 75,000 alumni and other key constituencies including current students, retired faculty, and parents to build affinity and support for the overall College. The Engagement Officer reports directly to the Director of Alumni Relations, the position does work closely with the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and will often interact with members of the Office of Communication and Marketing, current faculty and staff throughout campus, alumni, and members of the Development Office.
The three main areas of focus for this position include: communicating with and engaging alumni through our various social media outlets and the Orange and Blue Network, working collaboratively with various faculty members and program staff members, participating in the planning and providing support for various Alumni Relations events and activities.
Execute digital communications for the Office of Development & Alumni Relations including email marketing efforts, social media, and branded campus programming
Market the Orange & Blue Network platform and create growth and participation strategies
Update and manage the Alumni Relations webpage
Manage Alumni Relations’ social media outlets and coordinate closely with OCM to facilitate paid social media campaigns, event promotion, and potential fundraising campaigns
Participate in strategic planning in all areas of Alumni Relations communications
Manage student staff related to digital media and communications
Assist in the creation of website/email/social media content, magazine and newspaper articles, and advertisements
Collaborate with campus stakeholders to establish positive relationships and goals for highlighting alumni and supporting students while creating meaningful relationships with alumni who are inspired to give back to their community
Foster meaningful relationships with alumni who are inspired to give back to their community
Respond to campus requests for assistance developing departmental web pages; alumni gatherings; list pulls
Assist with educating campus colleagues on engagement best practices
Provide logistical support for all Alumni Relations events and activities, such as Reunion Weekend, 100 Days to Commencement, 40 Under Forty Awards Ceremony, and other events as assigned
Provide Director of Alumni Relations with content suggestions for the Alumni Magazine and Connect E-Newsletter
Minimum of two years of higher education experience or non-profit experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Experience in Photoshop and Adobe Suite
Experience running paid campaigns on social media
Experience developing and editing HTML/CSS
Experience with CMS (ex. WordPress and Terminal Four)
Ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse community both internal and external to the College
Ability to uphold brand identity standards and work with an institutional style guide
Knowledgeable of current social media trends and best practices
Must be available to represent the College and Alumni Relations at meetings and events both on campus and off-site where travel and hours are outside of core hours
Knowledge of Email Campaign Systems (ex. Emma and Mailchimp)
Familiarity with AP Style
