Duties: The State University of New York at New Paltz (SUNY New Paltz) Division of Engineering Programs invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position in its Electrical Engineering (EE) program. Our EE program provides excellent opportunities for motivated candidates interested in incorporating innovative engineering pedagogy to course and program development aimed at fostering a thriving student-centered learning environment. The Division of Engineering Programs offers programs in Electrical, Computer and Mechanical Engineering as well as a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. The emphasis of our education is on developing skills through project-based courses. All projects, as well as laboratory experiments and research, are done in state-of-the-art laboratories.
The primary responsibilities will be teaching undergraduate/graduate courses such as Electric Energy Systems, Electromechanical Energy Conversion and the associated laboratories. Responsibilities will also include developing new courses in the candidate’s area of expertise which support the goals of the program, teaching at the undergraduate/graduate level, conducting research, and providing service to the institution. The appointment will begin in the fall 2020 semester.

Applications are invited from individuals holding a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered. We are looking for candidates with a strong commitment to teaching in a student-centered institution and to involving students in their research.
Preference will be shown to candidates with expertise in power generation, transmission, or renewable energy. Industrial experience is a plus.
