Duties: The Department of Teaching and Learning at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz seek applicants for the tenure-track position Assistant Professor in Early Childhood/Childhood Education, to begin Fall 2020. This position is in the Department of Teaching and Learning’s B-6 certification program. The successful candidate will have expertise in culturally responsive pedagogy, and teach Education of Diverse Populations in addition to courses in child development and curriculum. Faculty members in this division also have the opportunity to teach Education Seminar, and tailor it to their scholarly interest. The successful candidate will also pursue a program of scholarly research and publication and participate in the faculty governance system.
We seek candidates with the demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to a faculty team dedicated to creating a positive, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population.
An earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in elementary education or a related field is required. Exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered.
Demonstrated effectiveness in college teaching, along with a record of scholarship, is highly desirable. Experience teaching in elementary education settings, interests and achievements in critical pedagogy and culturally responsive education, and the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders and to advocate on behalf of candidates within public schools and across the SUNY campus is expected.
