Duties: The Art Department at SUNY New Paltz seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Printmaking, a full-time, 10-month, tenure track position with an anticipated start date of August 20, 2020.
Our program seeks an innovative artist and educator with a robust practice, experience teaching multiple printmaking techniques and a deep understanding of history and theory of contemporary artistic production with regard to print media. The ideal candidate should be experienced with shared management in a printmaking studio and demonstrate familiarity with current health and safety practices with an emphasis on sustainability/minimal to no-solvent methods for etching, processing, printing and cleaning of matrices.
Responsibilities for tenure track faculty at SUNY New Paltz generally include a 3/3 teaching load; the successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate level printmaking courses ranging from basic-level to advanced classes. The successful candidate will incorporate both traditional and emerging printmaking practices in their teaching and demonstrate the ability to assume leadership positions.
In addition to teaching and ongoing excellence in creative/scholarly work and professional activity the position requires service to the department, college and university including committee work and student advising.

Qualifications: Required:
Qualified candidates must have an M.F.A. in Printmaking and at least three years of teaching experience beyond graduate teaching assistantships. Candidates must be familiar with a range of conceptual and technical aspects of printmaking and also demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches. Candidates must be proficient in traditional approaches to printmaking techniques and have experience teaching intaglio, lithography, screen-printing, monotype, relief and the contemporary critical issues that are relevant to the field of printmaking.
Preferred:
The ideal candidate will be proficient in screen printing and possess competence in emerging technical and digital applications, professional print production, alternative techniques and a broad intellectual approach to engaging research and practice of contemporary print media and the expanded field. It is preferred that the candidate have five years of teaching experience at the university level.
