Duties: The State University of New York at New Paltz Division of Engineering Programs invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in its Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program. The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level and will start in the fall 2018 semester.
This rapidly growing program, which was established in 2014, provides excellent opportunities for motivated candidates interested in incorporating innovative engineering pedagogy to course and program development aimed at fostering a thriving student-centered learning environment.
Responsibilities will include teaching at the undergraduate level, developing new courses in the candidate’s area of expertise which support the goals of the program, conducting scholarly research involving undergraduate students, advising students within the engineering major and making contributions to the department and college.

Qualifications: Required:
• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered
• Strong commitment to teaching in a student-centered institution and to involving undergraduates in their research
• Expertise in at least one of the broad areas of solid mechanics or dynamics
• Ability to contribute to the college’s initiatives in advanced manufacturing
• Industrial experience
