Yang Gao

Brahms Klavierstücke, Op 119 no 4 Rhapsodie Yang Gao Piano

Yang Gao, from China, is a prizewinner of several competitions including the first prize of Steinway Junior Piano Competition in China Northeast area, West Lake International Music Festival Piano Competition, CCM Undergraduate Scholarship Competition, and Nancy F. Walker Scholarship Competition. He is also one of the eight semifinalists in 2020 Charles Wadsworth Piano Competition, which has been rescheduled to the 2022. He was a full scholarship participant of Art of the Piano and Eastern Music Festival and was one of a few young artists selected as festival fellow at the 2020 Gilmore Keyboard Festival. He received his bachelor’s degree from College-Conservatory of Music in University of Cincinnati under Awadagin Pratt. In this fall, he will begin his master’s degree at the Mannes School of Music with Vladimir Feltsman.

 

 

 

Andrew Gu

Chopin Scherzo No. 3 in C sharp minor Op 39

Andrew Gu is a student at Roxbury Latin School and NEC Preparatory School in Boston. He started piano lessons with Helen Jung and currently studies with Alexander Korsantia and Hitomi Koyama. He won the 1st Prize at Grotrian-Steinweg, Rosalyn Tureck, and Chopin Hartford Competitions, and 3rd Prize at 2021 Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition. Andrew was featured in NPR's From The Top Show and KingFM's NW Focus Live Shows, and has performed at Benaroya Hall, Merkin Hall, DiMenna Center, and Kravis Center.

 

Sunhwa Kim

Maurice Ravel - Miroirs IV. Alborada del gracioso

Pianist Sunhwa Kim is the winner of the Korea Chopin Piano Competition, Yamaha Music Korea Scholarship Audition, the All Japan Art International Competition, and a prize winner of the New York Paderewski International Piano Competition, the International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia and the Kerikeri International Piano Competition. She has also received the 12th Seoul Student Award for enhancing Korea’s national prestige from the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. She was a finalistand received the Honorable Mention Prize at the International Paderewski Piano Competition in Poland and the 20th Ile de France International Piano Competition. Ms. Kim received her Artist Diploma from the Colburn Conservatory of Music. She graduated with honors and received her Bachelors degree from Seoul National University under the guidance of Mr. Hyoung-joon Chang. Previously, she has studied with Soo- jung Shin, Jin-woo Chung, Hae-jeon Lee, Sook-Ryeon park and Choong-mo Kang. She has recently completed her Masters degree at the Manhattan School of Music studying under Mr. Phillip Kawin and will continue working towards her Doctor of Musical Arts degree there with Mr. Kawin with a teaching fellowship provided by the MSM music department.

 

Takeshi Nagayasu

Hindemith Sonata no 3 - 1st movement

Takeshi Nagayasu, from Japan, received a bachelor degree in piano at Juilliard School of Music, studying with Joseph Kalichstein, Matti Raekallio, and Vladimir Feltsman. Takeshi will be pursuing a master degree at Yale School of music starting from fall, 2021. He will be studying with Boris Berman and Melvin Chen. He was previously enrolled at Cleveland Institute of Music for one year, studying with Antonio Pompa-Baldi. In 2018, Takeshi was awarded the first prize of the Jacob Flier Competition during PianoSummer at New Paltz. As the winner, he performed a solo recital at Carnegie Weill Hall. He won the Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition in 2019. Takeshi is also a composer, studying with Philip Lasser at Juilliard. Besides, he has been working as an accompanist at Juilliard since 2019.

 

Aoshuang Li

Aoshuang Li

Aoshuang Li recently won the first prize in the 2020 Los Aneles International Liszt Competition (Division V) and the 2019 Los Angeles Young Musician International Competition. Besides her solo performance awards, Li has won numerous piano concerto competitions in the United States, including the 2018-2019 Lorin Hollander Award—The American Prize in Piano Concerto Performance (college/university division), second prize in the 2019 Grand Junction Symphony Guild’s Young Artist Competition, and first prize in the 2016 Atlantic Music Festival Concerto Competition. Her performances of the Liszt Piano Concerto No. 1 and Stravinsky Piano Concerto won the 2019 Arizona State University Concerto Competition and the 2017 New England Conservatory Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition.During the past years, Li has given solo performances at world-renowned concert halls, such as Boston’s Jordan Hall, the National Center Concert Hall and the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing.

 

Xizhu Liang

Rachmaninov Etude-Tableaux Op.39 No.1&9

Xizhu Liang, born in 2000, began to learn piano at the age of 6, studied with Professor Yuqing Zhang and Youzhe Lou from Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Pianist Yunqing Zhou from Central conservatory of music. In 2021, She graduated from Mannes School of Music, gained Bachelor degree in piano performance and received “Steinway piano award”, studied with Professor Vladimir Feltsman, as well as being admitted by five world-renowned music schools include Juilliard and New England conservatory. She has participated in many national and international competitions and won many awards in Italy Imola international competition、Steinway Youth Piano Competition、Yamaha Piano Competition、Yamaha Young Performing Artist competition、 Xinghai Cup Piano Competition、Vienna Mozart International Piano Competition, etc. During period of the study in America, She has performed in “Mannes sounds festival” series of concerts for many times and also participated many festivals such as Italy Imola international piano festival, 2018 Beijing international festival&academy, Chautauqua Music festival as well as being admitted to Aspen Music Festival in 2020. 

 

Hao Liu

Debussy Image Book 1, 1. Reflets dans l’eau

As a young pianist, Hao Liu’s performance was praised by many famous musicians for her beautiful and sensitive interpretation with deep feeling. Made her first solo recital at the age of nine, Hao has performed around China as well as cities in Europe and North America. She has also been invited to perform in many well-known concert halls and music festivals, such as Shanghai Oriental Art Center, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Concert Hall, Shanghai Concert Hall, Suzhou Culture and Art Center, Guizhou Grand Theater, Hong Kong Auditorium Sha Tin Town Hall, CCOM piano festival and Festival Piano aux Jacobins. In addition, she won many prizes and received various music scholarships every year. After obtained her bachelor’s degree from Shanghai Conservatory, she earned her master’s degree from Peabody Conservatory where she studied with Boris Slutsky. Now she is studying in New England Conservatory with Alexander Korsantia and Alessio Bax.

 

Yutong Sun

Tchaikovsky Op.72 No.14

Currently Studying in New England Conservatory with Prof. Alexander Korsantia, Yutong Sun has gained international recognitions by winning major prizes of prestigious competitions in the world. Prized he was awarded includes the second prize at the Paloma O’Shea Santander International Competition, the third prize at Maria Canals Piano Competition, the first prize at Jaen International Piano Competition; 2nd prizes in New Orleans and Horowitz. Sun has made his appearances in major venues around the world such as Salle Cortot, Palau de la Música, Jordan Hall, The Bolshoi Hall, etc Consequently, he has been soloist with Symphony Orchestra of Galicia, City of Granada Orchestra and RTVE Symphony Orchestra in Spain; Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, etc.

 

Kelin Wang

Bach English Suite No.2 in A minor, Allemande and Courante

Kelin Wang, recipient of Harold Bauer Award, has appeared on many worldwide concert stages as both solo pianist and collaborative pianist. He has studied with many great musicians as David Geber, Julia Lichten, Sylvia Rosenberg, Nicholas Mann, Julian Martin, Alexander Korsantia. He won the Fuchs chamber competition continually in recent years with different chamber groups. Kelin is often invited to play with students from different conservatories including MSM, Julliard, Eastman and Mannes. He studied in Affiliated middle school to Sichuan Conservatory with Dr. Chenggang Yang, And began his undergraduate education at Manhattan School of Music from 2017 under the guidance of Dr. Marc Silverman. Now he is pursuing Master of Music Degree at Manhattan School of Music .

 

Lanxin Zou

Rachmaninov Prelude Op.32, No.12

Lanxin Zou is 21 years old. She studied in primary school attached to Central  Conservatory of music from 2011-2013, and graduated from secondary school attached to China Conservatory of music in 2019. Now she is the 23‘ piano performance student in ASU and studying with professor Hamilton to this day.
