New Paltz Youth Wind Ensemble

The New Paltz Youth Wind Ensemble (NPYWE) is an honors ensemble for instrumental music students in grades 7-9. Open to woodwind, brass, and percussion students, NPYWE provides students with the opportunity to play and rehearse advanced repertoire in a university setting.

Students in the program will collaborate with students from across the Hudson Valley and will receive instruction from SUNY New Paltz music faculty. The semester will culminate with a joint performance with the SUNY New Paltz Symphonic Band.

Any students who will be in grades 7-9 during the 2022-2023 school year may audition.

All auditions must be completed electronically. Applications are due Friday, May 27, 2022 (see form below). After completing the application, an audition submission link will be sent.

Digital auditions must be received before 11:59 PM on Friday, June 24, 2022.

Rehearsals: Weekly rehearsals will take place on Sunday afternoons from Sept. 18- Dec. 4, 2022. Rehearsals will be from 1-2:30 p.m. in Studley Theatre on the SUNY New Paltz campus. Students will receive a detailed rehearsal schedule upon acceptance and registration.

Participation fee: $100 per student, per semester (September-December). Registration fee will be due by the first rehearsal in September.

Final performance: 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4
