Upon completion of all prerequisite Foundation courses, Basic Printmaking, and Advanced Printmaking, a student may apply to the BFA Printmaking program. Application requires the submission of a portfolio of 20 original works or slides (which should include examples of printmaking and any art work that represents a full range of the student's artistic ability), a written statement of interest, and a current transcript.
An interview is conducted over the phone or in person. Students are expected to demonstrate technical proficiency, possess a desire and ability to work with contemporary, cultural, and critical issues, and be focused on the interaction between translating the idea into image. Graduate students need not be proficient in all printmaking techniques. However, they must demonstrate skill in the methods they use in their work.
