Students in the first semester of the MA program must meet with the Graduate Director in order to receive advising for course selection. You will review the MA Plan of Study together and discuss options and possibilities for courses in the coming semesters. Each semester you will be able to find Seminar Course Descriptions on the English Department website. After that meeting, the Graduate Chair will give you permission to register for classes through my.newpaltz.edu.
After your first semester, you do not need to meet with the Graduate Director in order to register (but are encouraged to do so if they have problems or questions). Students should keep track of their requirements, however, by carefully consulting their Progress Report (available through my.newpaltz.edu). Students should notify the Graduate Director if there are any errors on the Progress Report (courses not counting in the correct category or courses taken that aren't applied to the report).
