SUNY New Paltz maintains an emergency management program to protect lives, to protect property and to continue necessary critical functions. In order for the college to notify affected members of the campus community in an emergency or urgent situation as rapidly as possible, the emergency alert system will be activated for communication, or important related information.

This new system is to only be activated in accordance with the collegeâ¿¿s Emergency Response Plan and at the discretion of select members of the campusâ¿¿ Emergency Response Team, and ads another layer to the collegeâ¿¿s emergency communication cache.

As a part of a mandate for all SUNY campuses to integrate mass notification into their emergency communication cache, the college has installed, tested and trained personnel in the use of a mass notification speaker system on campus. Speaker arrays have been placed on three buildings: the Service Building, Wooster Science Building and Bliss Hall and the college has performed satisfactory audible tests of the new equipment.
