Athletic Fields
Design of the new Athletic Center project incorporated extensive site work to include a new running track, access road, parking lots and utility installations. It was anticipated there would be a surplus of excavated material to create new athletic fields, replacing fields recently lost to the construction of new residence halls.
Corrective repair work has been done to several area fields. Field Q, an erosion control area at the SE end of campus has been seeded and repaired. Field O, located south of South Pond, is currently in use and will remain in use as a staging area for the campuswide HTHW replacement project until its completion in Fall 2009. This field will be seeded once the staging area has been removed. New topsoil and seed has been added to the West Recreational Athletic Field adjacent to the new track and will be ready in Fall 2008. All fields are complete.
