Erica works with students from ALL majors seeking local volunteer opportunities. She also assists with applying to post-graduate service opportunites, such as Peace Corps and Americorps.
As the Service Learning Coordinator, Erica has the opportunity to work with New Paltz students who want to be involved in their community and gain valuable experience through volunteer work. Since 2008, she has created and implemented many new programs at SUNY New Paltz including the annual Volunteer Fair, Alternative Spring Break, and Saturdays of Service. As an alumna of SUNY New Paltz, Erica oversees the First-Year Internship Program with fellow alumna Beth King. She is also a co-chair of the Make a Difference Day committee, and assists in the planning of New Paltz Clean Sweep. Currently, Erica is the Vice President of the Board with UlsterCorps, Inc and advises the SUNY New Paltz chapter of Alpha Phi Omega National Co-Ed Service Fraternity.
Ericas passion for volunteering has been life-long, but became a focus as an undergraduate student at SUNY Oneonta where she majored in Music Industry and became highly involved in their chapter of Alpha Phi Omega. After graduation, she spent a few years as a custom drum builder and then decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Humanistic/Multicultural Education here at New Paltz. Erica likes to say that she is a great example of “your major does not equal your career” and advocates for getting involved in co-curricular experiences related to your passions!
Erica's position here at the college also allows her to assist students in any major to apply for post-graduate or gap year service opportunities such as AmeriCorps and Peace Corps, as well as to provide resume/cover letter reviews and mock interviews.
