The 5th Annual Student Research Symposium and Alumni Reunion

The 5th Annual Student Research Symposium and Alumni Reunion will be held on May 6th in the Honor’s Center on the SUNY New Paltz Campus. More details will be posted on our departmental homepage and Facebook page. The SRS/Alumni Reunion offers an opportunity for our graduation seniors to present the research they’ve been working on in the Capstone course, while also fostering the chance to create connections with alumni. The day is capped by a keynote speaker Dr. Teferi Abate Adem.

The calendar of events:

11:00 a.m. Meet, hug, shake hands, talk, get reacquainted and meet new alums
11:30 a.m. - Buffet lunch from 11:30 am-12:30 pm,
12:30 - 3:00 p.m.: The student research symposium. It will be like a real conference: talks will be presented in two rooms, each talk is about 15 minutes each with questions following. You can move between rooms.
3:00–3:45 p.m. - An alumni reception, followed by some homegrown anthropological rituals to induct new members of the Lambda Alpha National Anthropology Honors Society.
4:00 - Keynote presentation by Dr. Teferi Abate Adem “Humanizing Landscapes as a Vernacular Response to Rainfall Variability in Northeastern Ethiopia
