You can sign up for an alumni email account via my.newpaltz.edu (Once logged in there, click on "Alumni Resources" then "Request Alumni Email Address". Q: What is the Alumni E-mail Service?
A: SUNY New Paltz has two email systems - Office 365 (which is for current/active faculty/staff/students) and Hawkmail (which alumni are eligible for). The Hawkmail service is provided through Google Workspace and works like a regular GMail account. You may have a Hawkmail account from when we used to provide them to all students. If you do - and you're still actively using the account, you can keep doing so. If you don't have one but want one - see the next section.
Q: How do I sign up?
A: RECENT GRADUATES: Your Hawkmail account will remain active as an alumni (as long as you actively use it - accounts on Hawkmail that are not accessed for over a year may be disabled). You can use that as your alumni email address.
A: ALUMNI: Alumni are eligible for accounts on Hawkmail. To request one if you do not already have it - log in to my.newpaltz.edu and click on the Alumni tab, then on "Request Alumni Email Address". If you do not already have access to my.newpaltz.edu, fill out the account request form at the Alumni Log in Request Page. After that - use my.newpaltz.edu to sign up for the account.
Your Hawkmail account will remain active as an alumni (as long as you actively use it - accounts on Hawkmail that are not accessed for over a year may be disabled).
Q: It says I'm not eligible for the address - what do I do?
A: Most of the time when someone sees this message, it is because they have signed up for the address previously and don't recall doing so. If this is the case, you can login to your alumni forwarding account and check/change your forwarding address (see the next question for more information). To find out for sure, contact our Service Desk (email@example.com) with your full name, and your campus e-mail address (or year of graduation if you are an alumni) and we'll be happy to help you out.
Q: How do I log in to check my mail?
A: Go to gmail.com and login with your full @hawkmail.newpaltz.edu email address.
Please note: Its a somewhat long address so we recommend that you bookmark it or add it to your favorites in your web browser.
Q: How do I forward my alumni mail to another e-mail account?
A: After logging into the e-mail account, click on "Settings" at the top right, then on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" link. You can setup a forwarding address on this page (and either keep a copy of the mail on the alumni account, or set it to be deleted locally). Note: Forwarding your email to another account may cause issues with some of that mail being marked as spam. Because of this - we recommend against forwarding.
Q: I have an account but I forgot my password? How do I get in?
A: Submit a request via our Password Reset page.
