Learning Environments
This course is designed to give participants in the Inclusion Program an introduction to the skills needed to manage an Inclusive Classroom.  This course will focus on the integration of management theories and practice in instructional management, and environmental and interaction analysis.  The  creating and managing of an inclusive learning community will be approached from the perspectives of community building, attending to multiple intelligences and learning styles, respectful approaches to discipline issues, and supporting students with disabilities and challenging behaviors.

Education of Learners with Special Needs
Although the title of this course sets it apart from what has been traditionally referred to as "regular" or "general" education, the goals, objectives, and content will reflect the prevailing philosophy and practices referred to as Inclusive Education.  Grounded in the federal law mandating a "free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment" for all children with disabilities, inclusive education acknowledges the unique limitations imposed on children by the specific nature of their personal disabilities, and respects the notions that all children can learn when given the right supports and services.
